5 Musts I'm Bringing Into 2017

2016 was a busy year, and like a lot of people, I took some time to reflect around January 1. My resolutions include taking more time off to unwind and also disconnecting from reading anything on social media that leaves me with a negative feeling (yes, I get caught in that trap, too). However, I realized that instead of making a huge list of how I want to change, it’s more fun to think of how I don’t want to change. Here are some things that were part of my life in 2016 that will certainly stay with me in 2017!

1. My calendar and to-do list: Last offseason, my uncle recommended I try out a planning system called Opus One. It includes a calendar and prioritized to-do list, and now I couldn’t live without it. Like I actually would likely go insane without it!

2. Happiness in a mug: If you drink tea, or even if you don’t, try African Red Bush. Thank you to Beverly Yanez and Rebecca Moros for introducing me. Whoever sells it on Amazon, you’re welcome. I’ve probably been indirectly responsible for 90% of your sales. HERE’s a bit more about why I drink tea and love it so much. In the mornings, I’ve become addicted to Tazo Organic Chai, which has a bit of caffeine.

3. My ball sock: It’s weird, but trust me, make this and use it

4. Go-to breakfast mixture: I LOVE breakfast, but I’m also super busy and appreciate routines. Waking up and not having to think about or prepare a breakfast is key. Consider having these ready in the fridge. They’re healthy and so easy (I’m not one of those people who say preparing all food is easy. This is actually easy.)

5. My family: Being based in LA this offseason has given me an even stronger appreciation for my family—both my biological family and the new one I’m forming. I need a strong support system to cheer me on, help me take time to relax, and quite often to make me dinner.

I encourage YOU to make a list of the personal qualities you don’t want to change and also your must-haves for this upcoming year. Feel free to share them in the comments below. Bring it on, 2017!
